The Athletics Department at Iowa State University is seeking applicants for a Sport Dietitian that will also coordinate and direct the sports nutrition center operations for all intercollegiate sports (PCII or PCIII).
This position will serve as the Sports Dietitian for the football team. Will conduct thorough needs assessments as well as develop, implement and maintain a nutritional program to educate and enhance athletic performance and student-athlete wellness. Collaborate with and provide professional consultation to athletics administration, coaching staffs, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning coaches to help maximize the potential of each student athlete from a dietary standpoint. Provide confidential diet/nutritional counseling to individual student-athletes. Collaborate with sports medicine personnel on body composition analysis. Plan daily nutrition strategies to optimize performance. Must be able to travel with the team to away competitions.
This position will also coordinate and direct business operations for the sports nutrition center. Effectively forecast, manage, and oversee a departmental nutrition budget currently in excess of $2 million per year. Oversee unit goals, coordinating all SA nutritional planning, operations, and problem solving. Conduct needs assessments, research industry trends, and evaluate operations to provide analysis and recommendations to management on related purchasing, programming and strategic initiatives. Work closely with Business Office on all financial operations for the SA nutrition program. Collaborate with food service vendor on pricing, quantities and menus. Ensure unit performs all duties in compliance with NCAA, Big 12 Conference, and university policies.
The successful candidate must have solid sport dietitian knowledge as well as sound business management and financial skillset. This position requires strong customer service, verbal and written communication, planning and time management skills; the ability to work independently, solve problems and make decisions; and the ability to design and write effective educational materials and presentations. Candidate is expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. Position must be able to meet or consult with student-athletes and coaches outside normal business hours including evenings and/or weekends.
The Sports Dietitian/ Director of Sports Nutrition for Football will be hired at either a program coordinator II or program coordinator III level. In addition to the aforementioned duties, the III would have more directly related experience; would be expected to handle more complex projects, analysis and programming recommendations from the onset; and to work with more autonomy.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master's degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience.
Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Special Required Qualifications
Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association.
Registered or Licensed Dietician in Iowa within 30 days of employment.
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD).
Experience managing a large, complex food service operations and budget and working closely with food service vendors.
Experience overseeing and developing interns.
Experience providing needs assessments and developing nutritional programs.
Experience working with meal planning and nutritional counseling for intercollegiate football athletes.
Expertise working with nutritional supplement review and recommendations.
