Xavier University of Louisiana, founded by Saint Katharine Drexel and the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, is Catholic and historically Black. Xavier Athletics is planning to resume competition in baseball beginning with the 2020-21 academic year and is currently accepting applications for a Head Baseball Coach to meet the goals of guiding and leading an elite-level program with effective management; as well as to promote academic achievement and character of the student-athlete, fans, and within the University community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Formulate an effective philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete in alignment with the University's mission.
Recruit elite-level prospective student-athletes that will excel within the University framework and make successful progress toward graduation.
Monitor academic progress and the retention of students affiliated with the program, implementing action plans in collaboration with the Faculty Athletic Representative and Student Academic Success office.
Assume responsibility for sportsmanship, conduct, and academic progress of all students and staff affiliated with the program.
Manage all operational, fiscal, and administrative activities for the program.
Promote the athletic program and sport through attending community events, public speaking, fundraising, revenue generation, and marketing.
-A creative self-starter with a minimum of a bachelor's degree with related experience.
-Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
-A team player that works well with others.
-Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and Banner financial system.
