About YMCA of Southern Nevada
When it comes to improving the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, no one does it better than the YMCA of Southern Nevada. Established locally in 1944 (two years before Bugsy Siegel opened the Flamingo!) we're one of the region's longest-serving and most-respected nonprofit organizations. Like all Ys, ours is governed by a local volunteer board of directors who make decisions based on community needs.
We're dedicated to meeting the demands of today’s family. From toddlers to grandparents of toddlers, everyone feels at home at the Y. It’s no surprise considering our four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility are at the heart of everything we do. Members of every age and fitness level value our values. It’s the tie that binds our Y family together. It’s what makes us special and keeps members engaged.
We’re proud that our local roots date back to 1944, but London has a century on us. The worldwide YMCA movement got its start in England in 1844. Today across the U.S., 2,687 Ys engage 21 million individuals to nurture the potential of children, improve the nation's health and well-being, and provide opportunities to ...support neighbors. Though the world may be unpredictable, one thing remains certain. The Y is - and always will be - dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure adults, children, families and communities.
