This position is responsible for participating in parks maintenance repair activities and maintaining aquatic facilities to include performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of City facilities and grounds; and to perform minor maintenance on equipment if needed.
Regular and timely attendance at work
Performs some building maintenance and janitorial duties
Trims trees and mow open space
Performs carpentry work
Operates equipment such as mower, edger, heavy equipment, power saw and hand tools
Operates/drives trucks and equipment of various sizes to haul, load, and unload materials
Responsible for the maintenance of tools and equipment.
Installs, constructs, repairs and maintains playground equipment, water fountains, foot bridges, restrooms, picnic tables, picnic shelters, and other structures on City property
Performs facility maintenance activities including cleaning, painting, swimming pool maintenance, fence repairs and minor carpentry and construction work
Assists other divisions of the Public Works Department as needed including standby and emergency call up
Assists in the preparations for special functions such as installing Christmas lights
Assists in the repair and maintenance of park trails and removing dead trees
Reports defective or dangerous equipment or conditions to supervisors
Responsible for daily water quality at the City pool.
Responsible for performing daily inspections and housekeeping at the City pool.
Must be familiar with chemicals needed for daily operation of the City pool.
Will assist and ensure facility inventory is adequate, properly stored, and health standards are followed at the City pool;
Must arrive at work on time and maintain a regular and reliable level of attendance.
Work hours may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be available to work evenings during pool season.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
Knowledge of street and drainage maintenance procedures
Knowledge of the tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of pool and aquatic facilities
Knowledge of swimming pool operation and maintenance.
Knowledge of safety guidelines
Knowledge of department policies and procedures
Skill in operating job related tools and equipment
Skill in the maintenance of tools and equipment
Ability to read and write
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, required.
CPR and First Aid Certifications required, or readily able to obtain within 30 days of hire date
Possession of a valid Class C vehicle operator's license issued by the State of Texas
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Position requires one to three years of directly related pool operations experience
The appropriate combination of work experience and education to adequately meet the above requirements will be considered
