Coaching, Coaching - Cross Country, Coaching - Track & Field
Under the guidance of the Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach, play an integral role in the effective operation and recruiting efforts of the men’s and women’s cross country/track & field programs. This includes implementing the program strategy for recruitment, development and retaining student-athletes. This person will also effectively coach, travel, operate within fiscal boundaries, develop and maintain boundaries with student-athletes, parents, fans and campus faculty/staff.
The coach will lead one of the following event groupings:
Combined Events including jumps (pole vault experience preferred)
Recruit student-athletes that can contribute athletically to the entire program and reflect the spiritual and academic standards of Multnomah University.
Developing and implementing a year-round training program for the designated area
Coaching events at all meet competitions
Interact professionally with support staff throughout the athletic department
Interact professionally with university faculty, staff and student body on a frequent basis
Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends. May be responsible for driving team vehicles to and from practices/meets
Various administrative duties will be assigned at the discretion of the Head Coach which may include, but not limited to:
Program fundraising + mission trips
Overseeing academic progress
Communicating with Head Coach for ordering of supplies/equipment/team gear
Helping arrange travel schedules, booking rooms, meals, rental vehicles, etc.
Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree • Experience coaching or past participation at the collegiate level • Demonstrate successful recruiting efforts • Demonstrate successful development of athletes • Demonstrate a commitment to compliance with the NAIA, Cascade Collegiate Conference, Multnomah University and the athletic department rules and regulations • USATF/USTFCCCA certification level 1 • CPR/AED certification (can attain within 30 days of employment) • Must maintain valid driver’s license • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in related area • USATF/USTFCCCA certification level 2 • Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining student-athletes • Understanding of NAIA rules compliance • Experience evaluating prospective student-athletes academically, athletically, and spiritually
