1.Main Responsibilities •Remain up-to-date on proper certifications - AACCA spirit safety certification •Training, instruction, and performances of the club cheerleading team •Be present at all cheerleading team practices, home athletic events and at any NCA National & Regional competition •Choreograph routines and music for Nationals •Maintain proper safety certifications •Works in coordination with the Club Sports Administrators and the Assistant Director for Marketing and Promotions to manage game and practice schedules •As needed, Attend Cheerleading squad appearance requests both on-campus and within the community •Assist Cheerleading team in fundraising efforts •Advise the cheerleading captains in travel plans for competitive club cheerleading •Assist in alumni outreach through electronic communication •Coordinating routines with the Northeastern University Dance team for performances at home athletic events
2. Basic Responsibilities •Develop and improve participant sport skills •Abide by all University/Club Sport rules and regulations, including the Club Sport Handbook •Promote good sportsmanship on and off the court/floor •Submit Weekly Timesheets •Communicate with Club Sport Administrators as needed on issues associated with the club or any of its participants. These issues include, but are not limited to: oTravel oInjuries oEquipment oAdministrative tasks and responsibilities
3. Risk Management Responsibilities •Ensure safety of participants and monitor environmental (field/court/playing surfaces) conditions •Ensure that Injury Reports are completed for each injury and are given to Club Sports within 24 hours •Ensure proper warm-up/stretching for student-athletes prior to practice or competition
4. Team-Specific Responsibilities •Communicate with club officers to establish and achieve team goals •Provide support to club sport officers and participants as needed •Allow students to take on as much responsibility in the administration of the club as possible •Adhere to the travel guidelines set forth by the Department of Transportation and Parking and the Department of Recreational Sports when accompanying the club to off-campus matches and events 5. Other Duties Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned to meet the goals and mission requirements of the University and the Club Sport Program. Cooperation of all personnel is expected to carry out the mission.
Plan and execute all practice sessions for varsity and competitive cheerleading teams. Practice procedures include: conditioning drills, teaching choreography, spotting of stunts, routines and other cheerleading /spirit maneuvers. Ensure proper care and setup of practice and safety equipment. Coordinate practice time with pep band and dance team in order to plan integrate in-game performances.
Responsible for choreographing routines and music for Nationals, all in-game performance and conduct of the cheerleading team. Lead integrated performances cheerleading team, pep band, and dance team. Attend all home athletic events and club competitions that cheerleading team is participating in. Coordinate all in-game activities with Athletics External Affairs Office. Prepare all music for performances.
Work with Athletics External Affairs Office to manage varsity cheerleading team finances. Act as advisor to team Captains on management of finances in regards to the competitive club cheerleading team. Coordinate regularly scheduled meetings with Cheerleading Student Leaders to engage student input on varsity performances and advise on club competition. Work with Athletics Equipment staff to ensure proper cleaning and storage of uniforms.
Attend weekly meetings with Athletics External Affairs staff. Engage in regular email communication with cheerleading team to give updates on schedules, news, etc. Engage in communication and co-operate with the Club Sports Administrators. Engage alumni and family of cheerleading teams through electronic media.
Provide proof of AACCA training and certification. Display professionalism, good judgment, and support of the Athletic Department’s goals and objectives. Interactions within the University community should be focused towards the betterment of the experience of the student-athlete, the overall student body, alumni, and paying customers. Promote and advocate for good sportsmanship by all spectators, athletes, and staff at athletic events. Participate in professional development to aid in the overall success and advancement of Northeastern University.
