Executive, Executive - Associate Athletics Director

Serves on the senior athletic management team advising the Athletic Director (AD) on all departmental matters. Works closely with the Athletic Director to plan, develop, coordinate and oversee the University’s eighteen athletic programs and support personnel. The position reports to the Athletic Director.

Oversee day-to-day operations. Meets regularly with assigned staff, providing high-level direction and guidance for daily operations, to include but not limited to scheduling, forecasting, problem solving, staff development, strategic thinking, etc. Lead senior staff to ensure progress and completion of work assignments and projects. Advise and inform the Athletic Director regarding the condition of all athletic programs. Plan, direct and coordinate all sports programs in collaboration with AD, coaches and staff.
Work collaboratively with the Athletic Director to implement the strategy and mission of the department. Make recommendations to the AD that advance the development of student athletes and departmental objectives. Work as part of the leadership group charged with developing the unit’s annual and long-term strategic goals, objectives and their implementation. Support the academic mission of the Athletics department by ensuring that all sport programs function with the overall athletic department vision and mission in mind.
Assist the Athletic Director in facility planning and renovation initiatives. Serve as liaison to Facilities Planning & Management for construction projects.
May serve as proxy for the Athletic Director at meetings and functions. Understand division’s direction and apply discretion and oversight in the same capacity as the Athletic Director
Align annual budget with division’s strategic plan; serve as liaison between Athletics and its various constituencies with a focus on sports programming and student-athlete welfare.

Education Bachelor's degree
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, public relations, business administration or related field. Master’s degree preferred
Experience Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
Must have extensive knowledge of the operations and nuances of a collegiate Athletic Division. Knowledge of DII NCAA and conference rules & regulations. Understand the function & nuances of intercollegiate athletic programs. Some experience coordinating and facilitating fundraising efforts desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated work with coaches, understanding of coaching approaches. Preference for previous student athlete.
Management skills with ability to work through others and make appropriate interventions to ensure work flow is effective, efficient, compliant and within available resources. Must be able to set and implement a self-directed agenda.
Team Building Skills to foster collaborations across a wide span of control including motivating individuals and groups to work collectively towards common goals
Problem solving skills with ability to develop alternate approaches to rectify any problems that may arise in a timely manner.
Planning and Organization skills to prioritize and plan work activities in changing environments that are found in collegiate athletic departments.
Ability to effectively communicate across various levels of coaches, staff, faculty, students and administrators in a multicultural and diverse community.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be available to work evenings and weekends. May involve travel.
