General Responsibilities: The Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Experience serves as a member of the department's senior leadership team that is committed to excellence and advancing the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics through its strategic plan and vision. The fundamental responsibility of the position is to support and foster student-athlete excellence, health, safety and well-being. This position will collaborate with internal and external individuals and organizations to build relationships that will allow student-athletes to better fulfill their athletic, academic, and personal potential.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the following departments: academic services, life skills, athletic training, strength and conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology.
Provide oversight and supervision of academic services staff (academic coordinator, academic support specialist, graduate assistants and interns) to ensure effective performance.
Formulate and implement strategies so that each team is positioned to meet NCAA Academic Performance Program mandates.
Serve as advisor and main liaison to the Student-Athlete Advisory Council.
Work closely with campus constituents in the coordination of services for students-athletes.
Collaborate with the athletic compliance office to administer NCAA rules education and accurately and timely complete NCAA reports as directed.
Participate in overall strategies and decision-making as a member of the senior management team. Serves as a resource and educational outlet to foster inclusive programming to positively impact the student-athlete experience and promote a diverse, inclusive departmental culture.
As assigned by the Athletics Director, serve as Sports Administrator of assigned sports programs to provide leadership and counsel to coaches on a broad range of daily, on-going and annual administrative services, including, but not limited to academic success, competitive excellence and fiscal responsibility
Comply with all NCAA, Horizon League and Institutional rules and regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.
Five to ten years related full-time professional experience in intercollegiate athletics at a Division I Institution.
Demonstrated experience leading a student-focused area within a Division I Athletics Department including life skills, strength and conditioning, athletic training, nutrition and sports psychology.
Work experience that demonstrates strong time management written and verbal communication, and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
Working knowledge of successful strategies to enhance and improve the student-athlete experience. .
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration, campus partners and community members.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays depending on work and game schedules.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work as part of a team and motivate staff in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrated support for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the University by the University's insurance carrier.
Master's degree or advanced professional degree.
Senior leadership experience in NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics.
