Position and Responsibilities: The Berkshire Soccer Academy for Girls, a private, residential soccer camp in East Otis, Massachusetts, seeks a Director of Soccer to develop and manage the Academy’s overnight soccer program for girls ages 9-17.
The Director of Soccer will report to the Academy’s Directors and will have the following responsibilities:
Revise, implement and oversee the Academy’s 5-day soccer curriculum;
Train, evaluate and develop the soccer staff which consists of 3-4 Master Coaches, 3-5 Head Coaches and 8-12 Assistant Coaches.
Manage group assignments, player evaluations and session plans oversee equipment and liaise with facilities staff on field maintenance
Maintain positive relationships and interactions with campers and families
Liza Wittenberg, the Academy’s outgoing soccer director, will assist the Soccer Director by reviewing the existing curriculum and in developing required procedures and processes.
Work Schedule: June 14 – August 11. The seven camp sessions begin Sunday, June 24 and end Thursday, August 9. The remainder of the time will be spent preparing and wrapping up. All sessions run from Sunday morning through Thursday afternoon. The Director is off duty from Thursday night through Saturday afternoon, though occasional meetings and phone calls may be scheduled during that time. A typical weekly work schedule will be provided on request.
Housing: The Soccer Director will live in comfortable housing at the Academy and will have access to the camp facilities and meals. Family housing may be available. Housing options will include wi-fi access.
Off-Season Responsibilities: The Soccer Director will be available by phone during the off-season to assist with curriculum development, soccer staff recruitment and hiring and communication with the Academy’s directors. Up to 5 days of travel, to be scheduled at a convenient time, may be required.
Salary: $10,000 plus travel
About the Berkshire Soccer Academy for Girls (BSA): Set on a secluded lake, in a traditional camp environment, BSA infuses balance and fun into a world-class soccer camp experience. We encourage athletes to train hard on the field, enjoy relaxing elective activities and down-time with friends. Sessions are open to 130 girls who are passionate about soccer and looking to improve. The Academy offers an 8:1 player-coach ratio and actively cultivates meaningful relationships among athletes and staff.
Minimum “B” Coaching license, or equivalent, and experience coaching girls
Substantial playing/coaching experience at the youth, college, premiere or national level within the female game.
Soccer camp coaching experience
Significant background in education, youth development, sport psychology or similar field
Proven leadership ability and experience, specifically in staff or coach development
Dynamic personality; excellent communication and interpersonal
Excellent organizational skills
