Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for the full-time position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Stevens is a member of the Empire 8, ECAC and NCAA Division III and offers 26 varsity sports (13 for men and 13 for women), 14 club sports, a wide variety of intramural sports and special events, an extensive outdoor adventure program and a wide selection of wellness/fitness classes. Located in Hoboken, New Jersey, a historic small town that is just minutes away from Manhattan, Stevens has an enrollment of over 3,100 undergraduate students.
Position (full-time): Head Strength and Conditioning Coach
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred; 3 years or more prior coaching experience in strength and conditioning at the collegiate level is strongly preferred. Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and First Aid, CPR, AED training certifications required.
The successful candidate is expected to complete other trainings and professional development activities as they are offered at the university.
Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of the strength and conditioning office in a highly competitive NCAA Division III athletic program. The head coach’s top priority must be the overall collegiate experience of the student-athlete and creating a positive and healthy culture that encourages learning and development.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to designing and implementing well balanced, comprehensive strength and conditioning plans for all intercollegiate student-athletes and teams that meet the needs of each individual program; working closely with the sports medicine staff to prepare specialized training programs for those athletes who may be recovering from injury; communicating and collaborating with all members of the coaching staff to ensure that time spent in the weight room by the student-athletes is efficient and as effective as possible; oversight of the varsity weight room to ensure that the facility and equipment are in good working order at all times; preparation of annual budgets and management of all administrative records related to strength and conditioning; and supervision of three part-time assistants. The successful candidate also will teach a limited number of classes in the Physical Education program.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
