Gettysburg College is seeking an Assistant Volleyball Coach/Assistant Equipment Manager. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative position. It reports to the Head Volleyball Coach and Head Equipment Manager. The position will be responsible for assisting the head volleyball coach in all areas of coaching, recruiting, academics, strength training, and video/computer technology and assisting the Head Equipment Manager in servicing 24 varsity sports in the areas of equipment/uniform disbursement, maintenance of inventory and laundry, game operations and student employee supervision. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics as required.
Duties include assisting the head coach and the head equipment manager in the following areas: •coaching during practice and games to ensure proper preparation and readiness for student-athletes, including work with strength and conditioning and video breakdown and analysis; •provide some coordination of detailed travel logistics for events; •recruit and retain highly qualified student-athletes with a commitment to academic success, including meeting with student-athletes and parents to promote Gettysburg College, as well as use social media and other strategies of to promote the program; •demonstrate a high level of involvement in the personal, academic development and well-being of student-athletes; •provide support to the office of Development, Alumni and Parent Relations with fundraising efforts and alumni activities; •assist in daily operations of 24 intercollegiate sports; •provide game operations support for 24 teams; •prepare and maintain accurate records for inventory and credit/losses for financial services billing; •supervise student employees of the equipment room; •additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Intercollegiate
Qualifications: The successful candidate will:
have earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree is preferred;
one to three years of successful collegiate coaching experience is preferred;
one to three years of equipment room knowledge/experience is preferred;
a strong foundation of the rules of volleyball as a player or coach and a full appreciation and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations is preferred;
ability to work effectively in the environment of an academically demanding liberal arts institution and abide by all NCAA Division III, Centennial Conference and institutional policies;
ability to meet deadlines successfully and maintain professionalism and courtesy under hectic and demanding conditions;
knowledge and experience with, or ability to learn, technology applications applicable to the position;
maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record in accordance with all institutional policies.
