The Special Assistant to the Athletic Director shall assist the Athletic Director in the management of the business operations of the Department of Athletics.
The Assistant shall have the authority to perform these functions and duties in accordance with policies, federal, NCAA and conference regulations and established procedures. This position’s primary responsibility is ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing macro administrative support for the Department of Athletics and the Athletic Director. Working with the Athletic Director, the position will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices.
The incumbent is responsible for reporting all matters relative to the Department of Athletics to the Athletic Director.
1. Coordinates responsibilities of the Athletic Director with other university offices, staff and the public. 2. Researches and analyzes policy and legal issues, and assembles legal-related correspondence. 3. Coordinates and implements directives and policy decisions. 4. Originates and prepares administrative, legal or other complex documents and correspondence. 5. Oversees or conducts special projects and initiatives and, functions as a trouble-shooter. 6. Represents the Athletic Director in office/administrator or campus/university committee meetings and correspondence. 7. Consults with and advises the Athletic Director regarding matters related to policies and procedures.
8. Orchestrates administrative support and general management for the department and participates in short-term, long-range planning and goal-setting activities. 9. Assist in the investigation of issues as directed, consults with involved parties, and provides advice regarding various options for action. 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business, sports management or related field.
