Job Purpose Towson University's Department of Athletics is accepting applications for a Head Coach of Women's Basketball. This position will manage all aspects of the NCAA Division I women's basketball program, including recruiting, coaching, instruction, planning practices and competition, scheduling, managing program budgets, promoting student-athlete well-being and academic achievement.
Description The selected candidate will organize, conduct and supervise all aspects of coaching and instruction of the intercollegiate women's basketball program to include: skill instruction, practices, strength & conditioning, competition preparation and implementation; organize, strategize and supervise all aspects of recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes; provide appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and achievement of student-athletes in the women's basketball program; provide leadership to ensure a quality student-athlete experience that develops the Total Tiger through campus and community involvement; collaborate with Sports Performance staffs to ensure health and safety as well develop a sports performance plan for competitive success; represent the Department of Athletics, University and the women's basketball program at specified University, department, media and community functions and events; promote an environment of diversity & inclusion within the women's basketball program and department of athletics; prepare designated information relevant to all areas of fiscal responsibility and budget management for the women's basketball program; oversee and assign responsibilities to the assistant coaches and administrative personnel, and supervise all aspects of their work performance and conduct performance evaluations.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and three years of successful basketball coaching experience at the camp/clinic, high school, collegiate or professional level. The selected candidate must have the proven ability to train and recruit at the Division I collegiate level; ability to accept and carry out assigned program and responsibilities; ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni and the community; ability to pass the NCAA recruiting test and have a thorough understanding of NCAA rules and regulations; a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically; a demonstrated commitment to building a positive team culture and the ability to work collaboratively within the structure and framework of an Athletics Department and University. A master's degree and experience as a Division I student-athlete is strongly preferred.
