Western Kentucky University, a member of Conference USA and a Football Bowl Subdivision NCAA member institution, seeks to hire an individual for the position of Athletics Compliance Intern. This is a 12-month, part-time position. This position will report directly to the Associate Athletics Director of Compliance and Student Services. Applicants must have a commitment to and responsibility for adhering to all rules and regulations of WKU, Conference USA and the NCAA.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:The following duties are customary for this position, but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted, and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.•Assist with the monitoring of academic, amateurism, eligibility and financial aid rules of the NCAA , Conference USA, and Western Kentucky University•Provide education and interpretation of NCAA rules, policies and regulations for students, coaches, athletic staff and representatives of athletic interest•Monitor, audit and review compliance forms, policies and procedures•Monitor official visits, ticket requests, phone logs and contact/evaluation forms•Monitor new NCAA legislation•Monitor policies and procedures of camps and clinics•Assist with reporting of information required by the NCAA and Conference USA•Assist with amateurism and related areas oversight•Assist with the preparation of NCAA squad list, national letters of intent and financial aid agreements•Special projects as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for ComplianceKnowledge and Skills Considered Essential for Success:•Experience with NCAA waivers, monitoring, and international student eligibility•Experience working with NCAA Eligibility Center•Knowledge of social networking•Ability to handle confidential and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy•Must be able to use Microsoft Office•Strong attention to detail•Must be self-motivated and team-oriented•Excellent organization, interpersonal, and communication skills•Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends•Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred•The duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed in a competent manner following the highest standards for leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, responsibility, cooperation and customer service
Bachelor’s degree required
At least one year experience working in Division I athletic compliance
Working knowledge of NCAA rules, LSDBi and CA software
Additional Salary Information: Approximately $12,000 a year
