University of Minnesota Duluth - Intercollegiate AthleticsThe University of Minnesota Duluth Intercollegiate Athletics program has one part-time position available beginning immediately for Assistant Baseball Coach – Post Graduate Intern. Home to eight national championship teams since 2000, the University of Minnesota Duluth has been sponsoring intercollegiate athletics for the past 85 years and continues to reign as one of the most well-balanced and competitive programs in the Upper Midwest. UMD is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and belongs to the 16-school Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in all sports (NCAA Division II), in addition the men's and women's ice hockey participate in NCAA Division I and are aligned with the NCHC and WCHA respectively.You will have an initial period of observation, followed by supervision and daily reviews on needed basis. Assistant Baseball Coach:University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach, Baseball – Post Graduate Intern. This is a part-time, varied hours, position that assists the Head Baseball Coach. •Practice preparation and organization, working primarily with catchers, outfielders, and hitting, a very limited amount of recruiting.•Assisting with the day-to-day office operations and compliance with all NCAA rules, especially those pertaining to baseball, as well as compliance with NSIC rules as well. •Required to be at all fall on field practices and games, certain strength and conditioning sessions and all spring contests and practices, other duties as assigned by head coach to support the program, assist in various fundraising and community outreach activities.
Required qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Coaching, Sport Management/Administration, Marketing, Business or similar field. Coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree; One to two years coaching experience at the high school level and/or collegiate playing experience; collegiate coaching experience preferred; Strong organizational; interpersonal; oral communication, and computer skills needed; Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for baseball, and the ability to coach and motivate.
Additional Salary Information: The successful candidate for this position will be required to complete a criminal background and DMV checks satisfactory to UMD prior to commencing employment. Now in its 85th year of operation, the University of Minnesota Duluth Department of Intercollegiate Athletics continues to maintain one of the most competitive and well-balanced sports programs of its size in the country. Fourteen of UMD’s 16 teams — baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis, men’s and women’s indoor... and outdoor track and field, and volleyball — are members of the 16-member NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey programs, meanwhile, are aligned with the eight-team National Collegiate Hockey Conference and the eight-school Western Collegiate Hockey Association, respectively.
