The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics consists of more than 275 staff members and coaches and sponsors 30 varsity sports programs. These 30 programs include more than 850 student-athletes who participate in the various sports programs within the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). We are currently seeking an Associate Director, Compliance. Description of Position: The Associate Director, Compliance will provide rules interpretations, assist with the development and implementation of the rules education program, prepare waivers and self-reports for submission to the NCAA and Pac-12 conference office, assist with strategic planning, and assist with the establishment and implementation of policies and systems to ensure rules compliance. Responsibilities:A.NCAA and Pac-12 Interpretations:
Provide rules interpretations on NCAA and Pac-12 rules to coaches, staff, student-athletes and external constituents.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NCAA bylaws and interpretations, Pac-12 rules, and University of California policies regarding athletic rules.
Assist with development and implementation of a comprehensive rules education program.
Present rules education sessions to student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff, other University staff, and external constituents.
C.Policies and Procedures
Assist with the establishment and implementation of policies and procedures to help ensure rules compliance and institutional control.
Implement the recruiting/compliance software system.
Conduct research and draft waiver petitions to the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference.
Assist in the maintenance of Student-Athlete Database.
Conduct preliminary investigations and report findings on potential violations.
Conduct research and draft violation reports for submission to the NCAA and Pac-12 Conference.
Assist with risk assessments and strategic planning for the athletic compliance program.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training/experience.
Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices.
Highly developed problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions.
Effective listening skills.
Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications and the NCAA’s LSDBi, RSRO, and Compliance Assistant systems.
Effective customer service skills.
Two years of full-time experience in Division I Athletics Compliance or equivalent.
Advanced working knowledge of NCAA Division I and Pac-12 policies, rules and regulations.
Advanced degree in a related field.
Three years of full-time experience in Division I Athletics Compliance or equivalent.
Proficiency with a recruiting/compliance software system. </ul>
