Job Description: The Director of Ticket Operations and Assistant Director of Marketing position at Colgate is responsible for overall business operations and management of the athletic ticketing office. This individual will manage relationships for current season ticket holders, prospect for new clients, group sales and individual tickets. The Director of Ticket Operations will report to the Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing and will work directly with Marketing and Event Operations on game days.
Accountabilities include: - Effective management and oversight of all ticket office functions, including personnel supervision, game-day ticket operations and policy development. - Responsible for accurate bookkeeping and reporting of all revenue. - Effective resolution of all customer service issues at all point of sale locations and at athletic events. - Responsible for having a comprehensive knowledge of all NCAA rules and procedures governing complimentary ticket admissions, official visit complimentary ticket admissions, and unofficial visit complimentary ticket admissions. - Responsible for a comprehensive knowledge of all NCAA rules and procedures governing student-athlete will-call lists. - Responsible for effective participation in game day operations - Accountable for effective vendor relationships and securing favorable economic terms with all relevant third parties such as ticket agencies. Responsible for the performance of all relevant external ticket operation vendors. - Effective creation and maintenance of computer database for accurate accounting and tracking the following: actual vs. projected sales for evaluating marketing strategies; program sales performance and spectator attendance for each event; complimentary tickets and to determine seating priority for season ticket seat assignments. - Responsible for setting and meeting assigned ticket sales P&L projections. - Ensuring inventory control, sales methods, cash handling, sales performance expectations, employment conditions and evaluation, etc. - Responsible for the timely updating of all facets of the ticketing website. - Responsible for effective management, hiring, scheduling, training and evaluating of assigned athletic event staff. - Preparation and maintenance of a master ticketing/promotions calendar of all Athletics sport and special events. - Ensuring effective management of all public requests, season tickets, execution of mail order and telemarketing sales strategies. - Responsible for strategically designating seat assignments for season ticket holders, group ticket sales, and others. Make recommendations to senior staff for group ticket packages. - Ensures appropriate management of consigned tickets to and from member NCAA institutions. - Responsible for the on-going evaluation of athletic ticketing operations and has independent discretion to create and implement changes, as needed. - Responsible for maintaining ticket operations budget. - Exercises independent discretion on all purchases and budgetary decisions for the ticket office. - Responsible for ticket distribution at select postseason and other away games as needed.
Qualifications (Education and Experience): - Bachelor's degree and minimum of one year of experience in a collegiate or professional athletics setting is required. - Demonstrated outstanding verbal and written communication skills, superior organizational skills and an ability to provide high level customer service and build strong community relationships. - Demonstrated knowledge of third party ticket vendors. - Demonstrated exposure to grass roots marketing and design concepts, and ticket package promotions. - Demonstrated Microsoft Office Suite skills, a detail-oriented approach and the ability to reconcile accounts is critical. - Demonstrated collaborative style and the ability to work effectively within a diverse population of patrons, coaches, community members, alumni, students, faculty and staff.
This position is also required to work nights and weekends during athletic seasons as necessary.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: - Demonstrated experience with third party ticket buyers is preferred. - Demonstrated design software experience such as Photoshop, etc. is desirable. - Demonstrated direct marketing experience is preferred. - Previous experience coordinating volunteers and students is preferred.
