Catawba College, a NCAA Division II Institution, member of the South Atlantic Conference, seeks applicants for the position of Full-Time (10 month) Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the men’s and women’s track and field programs with specific emphasis in sprints, hurdles and horizontal jumps. This position also assists in meeting program objectives: recruiting student athletes to succeed academically, taking measures to promote their academic success, enhancing the development of the student-athlete’s track & field skills through team practice and one-on-one instruction, and a commitment to NCAA compliance and the rules of Catawba College and the SAC. Duties include coaching, recruiting, scheduling, academic counseling, fund raising and budget management.
Position requirements include a knowledge and experience in coaching or participating in track and field at the collegiate level; experience in sprints, jumps, hurdles; knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance; working effectively in a team environment; and multiple years of teaching/instructional/recruiting/playing or coaching. Bachelor’s degree required as well as a valid NC driver’s license. Willingness to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary are also required. CPR/AED Certification will be required within one month of starting.
