The New York Red Bulls are one of 20 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). They are one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, having competed in the league since its founding in 1996. They currently play their home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. RBA, a state-of-the-art 25,000- seat stadium widely regarded as the top soccer-specific stadium in North America. The club is owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The first team features 2014 MLS Golden Boot Winner Bradley Wright-Phillips, U.S. international Sacha Kljestan, and several players with USMNT experience. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.
The New York Red Bulls Regional Development Schools are currently looking to add experienced coaches to our player development staff as head coaches of our new RDS Regional Teams. As well as working as the Head Coach of one of the RDS Regional Teams, the successful applicants will also work within the seasonal RDS program.
Roles and responsibilities include:
Working as the head coach of one of the new RDS Regional Teams in the 2007 or 2008 age group.
Delivering three team training sessions per week, focusing on the player’s technical, tactical, physical and psychological development, in line with the RDS Team Curriculum.
Overseeing game days and seasonal tournaments.
Delivery of an annual pre-season training camp.
Completion of all team related administration, including but not limited to; session planning, seasonal player evaluations, match reports, score reporting, KPI tracking, and game-tape coding and feedback.
Attendance at weekly RDS Team meetings, to discuss pertinent player development issues.
Working within the RDS program, providing supplementary technical training to players not currently on the Regional Teams.
Part-time positions are available with our teams in NJ, Westchester and Long Island. Coaches are eligible to receive up to a maximum of $1000 for out of state travel relocation expenses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Required to perform the job)
Required to be available five (5) afternoons/evenings per week plus all weekends.
Required to be available up to two weekday mornings (each week) for staff training workshops and team meetings. Specific days vary as a function of the overall education schedule.
Working hours will be approximately 18 to 30 hours per week, over a twelve-month period. A coach’s working week is comprised of on field coaching hours, administration duties and attendance at mandatory staff training workshops in the spring and fall seasons. Both elements are paid at an hourly rate.
Employment to begin in late August, in time for pre-season training. Coaches who commit to a full availability employment contract also receive preferential assignments to double camp programs (30 hours per week) plus Residential camps during the summer months. Additionally, coaches will also receive priority in scheduling of winter hours.
Coach is guaranteed a minimum of 180 coaching hours in the spring and fall season plus a minimum of one (1) 15 hour camp per week of the summer.
Required to attend a mandatory paid pre-season orientation event.
Unpaid vacation time: Due to nature of the youth soccer season and the need to maintain consistency in staffing, coaches are not permitted to take vacation time during PEAK seasons. Applicants should disclose any conflicts prior to sign an employment contract.
QUALIFICATIONS, JOB KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY
Minimum of a USSF B license, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, or international equivalent.
Must have a minimum of five years previous coaching experience, and at least two within the US.
Bachelors degree in sports-related field preferred.
Candidates must hold a valid driving license and have their own vehicle for transportation.

The New York Red Bulls Youth Programs are the grassroots player development and training system for New York Red Bulls professional soccer team. Operating as RBNY Academy the player development structure is used to provide soccer training to young players in the local communities, support club development and to scout and develop talented youth players. The overall youth player development set up... comprises a reserve team, academy teams, regional development schools, and grassroots youth training programs. The grassroots training programs are the foundation of our youth developmental pyramid and provide seasonal training programs and summer camps to over 40,000 players each year. Within our grassroots programs we employee over 100 coaches annually who work with players ages 5 to 16 years.
