The Broadcast Operations, Online Content Specialist streams live sporting events for the Big Ten Digital Network and departmental website. Records, produces, edits, encodes and posts online video content. Creates original multimedia content for Northwestern’s original television shows and assists with production of video board and in-venue content.Please note: Ability to work a non-traditional schedule, often including evenings, weekends and some travel as required.Specific Responsibilities:- Plans, strategizes and executes the streaming of live sporting events and news conferences for the Big Ten Digital Network to increase exposure of Northwestern’s athletics program.- Produces original multimedia content for Northwestern’s television shows and stadium video boards. Edits highlights and other features for the department website to increase exposure of the athletic programs and student-athletes.- Collaborates with Broadcast Operations staff to recruit and train students for live event productions.- Travels with NU teams to record press conferences; edits video highlights and publishes content online for coach’s shows and department website.- Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.- Other duties as assigned.As per Northwestern University policy, this position requires a criminal background check. Minimum Qualifications: - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Communications or related field or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 1 years’ experience with live sporting event production and highlight recording/editing.
- Experience with live sporting event production, internet streaming and technical understanding of required equipment including TriCaster and Ross Video (Carbonite, Xpression, Mira).
- Experience recording sports highlights, games and interviews.
- Experience with non-linear editing (Premiere Pro preferred).Experience with non-linear editing (Premiere Pro preferred).
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.) - Knowledge of video graphic production, including Adobe Creative Suite applications.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work efficiently on short deadlines.
