The Wayne State University Department of Athletics invites applications for the position of Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach. The responsibilities of this position include oversight and direction of all aspects of the program including a staff of two full-time assistant coaches. Specifically, the supervision includes the following teams: men's cross country, women's cross country, women's indoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field. Organization and supervision of all aspects of the Wayne State cross country/track and field programs including, but not limited to, the recruitment of quality student-athletes; scheduling; organizing and conducting practices/competitions; budget management; overseeing student-athletes' academic progress; fundraising; community involvement; and compliance with the NCAA, GLIAC and Wayne State University rules and regulations.
Bachelor's degree required; Proven record of recruiting highly competitive and academically prepared student-athletes; Knowledge and specialization in intercollegiate coaching required; Proven ability to direct, manage and prepare an intercollegiate athletics team; Must have strong team-building and management skills; Must have ability to work across academic and administrative departments in a cooperative manner; Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills; Must have demonstrated experience in program development, management and leadership; Must demonstrate skills to oversee full-time staff.
