American University in Washington, DC, a NCAA Division I member of the Patriot League, seeks qualified applications for an Assistant Director of Athletic Development (Position Number 6513: Development Assistant). This position reports directly to the Associate Athletics Director for External Relations, working closely with and playing a key role on our external affairs group within an exciting team environment. The Assistant Director of Athletic Development is responsible for assisting in the generation of revenue through fundraising, development activities in the Eagles Club, sport specific campaigns and alumni relations for the Athletics Department. The incumbent will be responsible to solicit donations for the athletics annual fund and increasing attendance at major special events. This position manages and maintains development and special event databases, schedules events and meetings, and works with communication staff on development publications. The incumbent signs and secures contracts with vendors for special events and functions and provides tracking, reporting and operational support to the external operations team within the athletics department. A Bachelor’s degree is required with at least two years’ experience in fundraising, development and fundraising events or other related experience required. Experience in a college athletic department desired. Successful completion of a pre-employment background check is required.
