Stanford’s Department Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) supports the nearly 900 student-athletes who compete on the 36 intercollegiate athletic teams sponsored by the university. It also supports the campus physical education, recreation and wellness initiatives. Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics department is seen as the premier athletic program in the country, achieving the highest levels of success both in the classroom and on the field. All employees contribute and help set the tone for the future of the organization. Currently, the Athletics Department is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Softball Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist the Head Coach of the Women's Softball program of a Division I athletics program. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Head Coach of the Division I softball program in multiple on and off field areas. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:•Help plan, organize and coach team training and practice sessions.•Plan, organize and execute pitcher development programs.•Participate in on-field coaching activities during practices and at competitions.•Scouting, video and film review.•Assist with recruiting student-athletes to compete at Stanford. Follow NCAA rules and University standards and policies in coordinating recruiting efforts.•Help coordinate team schedules and transportation for away-from-home contests. •Understand and apply NCAA regulations to all aspects of program. Must pass NCAA recruiting exam on an annual basis. •Represent the softball program at various public events and department-wide programs, as assigned.•Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or designee.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Prior college coaching experience required, college pitching coach experience strongly preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with student-athletes, peers and the general public.
Strong computer skills, with a willingness to learn and utilize new technologies.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a variety of staff and personnel in the Department of Athletics, the University and the community.
Ability to understand and comply with all rules and regulations of Stanford University, the Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.
