Overview:The Athletics Department at St. Edward's University invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing and Communications. While reporting to the Associate Director of Athletics for Operations, this position also collaborates extensively with the university's Director of Communications. The position is responsible for the direction of a comprehensive marketing and communications program by coordinating all public relations, marketing and sports information operations for University Athletics (comprised of 13 nationally competitive NCAA DII programs and cheerleading). The successful candidate will operate the department with integrity, ensuring alignment with the university's vision of excellence. Responsibilities:- Serve as the official spokesperson for the university's athletic programs- Serve as the direct liaison between Athletics and the University Marketing Office- Supervise full-time Sport's Information Assistant and Student Intern staff- Coordinate media and public relations efforts for the university's athletic programs- Provide oversight of the athletics website and social media strategy- Provide media coverage for athletic department events not specific to a particular sport program- Coordinate the following for each of the sport programs- Facility and equipment set up and tear down for events, as well as game day personnel- Game day statistics and broadcast productions, programs, photography, media guides, etc.- Promotion of attendance in collaboration with Coordinator of Promotions and Fan Engagement- Content for social media and other video purposes (weekly video highlights, end of year highlights, etc.)- Nominations for honors and awards for student-athletes and coaches- Press release for each contest, award, community service event, etc. and pitch news stories to media- SEU record book updates- Travel to post season tournamentsFor full consideration please submit all application materials by 6/9/17
Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field. Master's degree preferred
Minimum five years related experience. Minimum three years as a supervisor (preferred)
Working knowledge of rules and statistics for each sport
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office, video editing and StatCrew software
Demonstrated understanding of print and electronic media, to include website maintenance and social media
Must be proactive, a creative thinker, a problem solver, and a service oriented individual
Demonstrated superior communication skills, including writing, editing and public speaking, and experience communicating institutional messages to the public through external media, web and social media channels
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community;
Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required for selected candidate.
