Responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities associated with event management services at department facilities. Works irregular schedules as required to ensure proper supervision of all event and activities scheduled in department facilities.
Interacts with department and university personnel; advises and counsels event services personnel as required regarding administrative procedures, facility policies, and operational procedures of the Athletic facilities. Responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of materials and personnel resources plans that will provide for the comfort and safety of patrons at all events while ensuring first-rate facilities that meet criteria for policies and procedures.
Recruit, interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate skills of temporary and student staff to support athletic and outside events in all athletic venues. Train staff in NCAA/Pac-12/UOAD, life safety and guest services procedures. Evaluate staff throughout the year. Schedule and supervise staff for approximately 150 events per year.
Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Pac-12 Conference and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree. • 1 year event management experience in the sports and/or entertainment industry required.
Professional Competencies • Experience in leading staff and/or vendors in an event setting. • Demonstrated ability to work with departments and outside parties in creating comprehensive and cohesive event experience. • Strong written and oral communication skills required. • Ability to work long, irregular hours as dictated by events schedule. • Ability to make high level, independent decisions in pressure situations. • Ability to give direction to Athletic Department Senior Leadership. • Demonstrated experience and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience in a Division 1, Power-5 athletic program. • Experience with Adobe Illustrator CS5 as it relates to maps and signage. • Experience in leading staff and/or vendors in an event setting.
