| FIU Intercollegiate Athletics is currently recruiting for an Athletic Grounds Superintendent to join the team. The Athletic Grounds individual will manage the care, maintenance, and renovation of all athletic fields and irrigation maintenance at MMC. |
* Oversees, manages, and performs the day to day athletic fields operations which includes managing construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of sport fields, whether performed in-house or by outside contractors. Plans maintenance and project work to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards; Oversees the training, scheduling and organizing of personnel to accomplish the work in compliance with university policies and procedures; uses CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to schedule and record work on all fields. Selects and monitors the types and uses of insecticides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers and all other chemicals used by the Groundskeeping employees. Follows all university and state safety rules. Coordinates work assignments to the unit using CMMS. Informs the Maintenance Manager as to the daily operation and activities for compliance to the standard operations of the Facilities Management Department. Serves as On-Call Duty supervisor. Acts as the overall coordinator for routine emergency responses during times when regular maintenance staff is not available. Oversees the daily operation in the absences of the Maintenance Manager for Facilities Management Department and the Associate Athletics Director. *Recommends the hiring of personnel assigned to the athletic fields operation unit. Monitors and processes the personnel attendance records and time attendance reports, prepares employee performance evaluations and monitors accident reports when needed.
*Oversees, maintains, and manages inventories of athletic grounds equipment and preventive equipment maintenance. Purchases and maintains all inventory of small equipment, parts and supplies utilizing the Facilities Management Warehouse services. Specifies, purchases equipment and necessary supplies/materials to maintain the athletic grounds. Approves expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep operating expenses in line with approved budgets. *Communicates regularly with other members of management team both in FMD and Athletics to discuss activities, goals, plans and user input. *Coordinates with coaches and outside event coordinators regarding maintenance repairs, applying or the removal of paint, pest control or together items as deemed necessary. *Serves as a working supervisor contributing to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed including and not limited to night and weekend schedules. *Ensures employees are equipped with proper tools, safety equipment, and assists in establishing standards of workmanship, performance and materials.
