Responsibilities: The head Athletic Trainer is charged with the primary responsibility of supervising a comprehensive sports medicine program for the health care needs of Bemidji State University’s NCAA Intercollegiate Athletics Programs. The Head Athletic Trainer also has the responsibility of being the final authority in the determination of the student-athletes participation in practice or competitions. The successful candidate will have the knowledge and ability to:
• Maintain records and document for communication, risk management, and determine best practices. • Develop an Emergency Action Plan with consideration for staffing, coordination of resources, liability, and equipment to reduce risk to individuals and organization. • Utilize basic internal business skills including strategic planning, human resource management, budgeting, and facility design. • Apply external business skills, such as marketing and public relations to support organizational sustainability, growth, and development. • Implement standard evaluation techniques and care procedures to determine best practices for student-athletes. • Recondition student-athletes for optimal performance and function.
Minimum: • Master’s degree in a related field. • Three to five years of athletic training experience at the collegiate level. • NATA BOC Certification, and eligible to register in the State of Minnesota. • Must be able to travel extensively during the academic year.
Preferred: • Three to five years of successful experience as an Athletic Trainer. • Applicant should demonstrate knowledge of and experience with diverse cultures and populations.
