| The West Virginia University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is applications for the position of Strength Coach – Women’s Basketball. The position will report to the Director of Strength and Conditioning and will oversee the strength and conditioning program for women’s basketball in addition to any varsity sport(s) assigned. |
This position will assist with the administration, management and supervision of strength training and conditioning functions for student-athletes participating in the intercollegiate athletic program, within the guidelines, rules and regulations of West Virginia University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA, assist with warm-up, support, recovery and travel for women’s basketball, assist with staff scheduling, education and development. The position is expected to design, implement and conduct sport-specific strength and conditioning programs that facilitate maximum benefits for student-athletes including individualized, comprehensive and year-round programs, supervise and instruct student-athletes and coaches in all aspects of weight training, conditioning and nutrition, collaborate with coaches and athletic training staff on the overall conditioning, rehabilitation and welfare of student-athletes, design and maintain student-athlete records and monitor progress of training programs, and oversee general activities in weight room and assist other staff members as needed. Supervise weight room facilities to insure a safe and functional environment.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: • Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity related to intercollegiate athletics • Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics • Knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations • Exhibit strong creative, organizational and interpersonal skills • Demonstrated knowledge of correct English, grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure • Ability to manage multiple tasks for extended period of time • Ability to independently plan and organize work • Proactive attitude towards work and assignments • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community • Demonstrated knowledge of record keeping and adherence to schedule • Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards, work extended hours including nights and weekends
