Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for managing and leading all aspects of a competitive Division III men’s basketball program.
The university and athletic department will be transitioning to a new Athletics & Events Center in 2018 making this a very dynamic time for the basketball program. The candidate must adhere to the University and athletic mission, having academically successful student-athletes, and providing a quality student-athlete experience.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics. The candidate should possess outstanding communication skills, strong leadership and mentoring abilities and the ability to create a culture of care and discipline. Excellence in on-court teaching, coaching and player development, highly effective recruiting skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: Work within the University and athletics mission to provide a competitive, unique, and positive collegiate athletic experience for student-athletes. Instruct student-athletes in individual and team skills. Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes within the scope of ODAC, NCAA, and university guidelines. Monitor team and individual academic success and degree completion. Maintain a program compliant with NCAA, ODAC, and University rules and guidelines. Build, develop, and maintain contacts and relations with athletic alumni. All necessary administrative responsibilities for the program - budget management and scheduling, Coordinate and supervise a full-time assistant coach. Other related duties including a secondary assignment will be required.
