The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division of the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation is currently seeking a County-Wide Arts Program Coordinator. The selected candidate will lead the division's community arts area, a diverse and growing program that delivers classes, programs, camps, events, and other services in all arts disciplines throughout the county. This is a highly responsible position charged with program development and oversight, supervision of mid-level management and direct program staff, budget development and management, and engagement with various arts and community groups.
A DEGREE IN ARTS, ARTS EDUCATION, OR ARTS ADMINISTRATION AND RELEVANT ARTS EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED/DESIRED.
EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT DUTIES:
Recruit, select, and approve/recommend staff hiring.
Oversees the Division's formal agreements with Commission Partners (Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Bowie Performing Arts Center, Prince George's County Community College/Bluebird Arts Festival).
Facilitate and coordinate the preparation and submittal of grants as assigned to include the application process, back-up material, and submittal agencies.
Assists with preparation and management of the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division's annual budget.
Researches and meets with vendors, exchanges information with other Arts organizations and attends conferences to identify new programs, methods, equipment, which might be useful for the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division programs and events.
Meet with citizens, Commission groups, art business groups, recreation councils and other art service organizations to identify needs, plan programs and answer questions about visual and performing art programs, classes, camps, events and outreach activities.
Oversee development of community arts classes, residencies, and programs.
Represents the Commission/Department at advisory boards and commissions; serves on committees, inter-governmental groups, art professional associations and community groups.
