| Stockton University seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic and proven leader to become its new Director of Athletics. Located in Galloway, New Jersey, the university sponsors 18 varsity sports providing opportunities for men and women of diverse backgrounds to compete at the highest level within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). The Director of Athletics will function in the highly complex and competitive environments of an NCAA Division III athletics program as well as a conference committed to both academic and athletic excellence. While advancing Stockton’s mission, values and goals, the Director must provide visionary, energetic, creative and decisive leadership. |
The Director will join an institution with a longstanding tradition of athletics success, the momentum of which has increased in recent years. Osprey Athletics is competitive across the board and most recently won NJAC Championships in Men’s Basketball (2016, 15, 14), Women’s Cross Country (2016), Volleyball (2015, 14, 13), and has made many appearances in ECAC and NCAA Tournaments. In addition, Stockton boasts 15 club sports as well as a robust intramurals program.
The Director of Athletics will be expected to guide and mentor coaches as well other staff with an unwavering commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience and success of Stockton Ospreys, while staying true to the character of the institution. The Director also will be tasked with serving as the department’s primary representative in interactions with other leaders on campus. In this role, the Director not only will articulate the athletics department’s vision, strategy and contributions to the university, but also will listen closely to the perspectives of others in identifying opportunities to expand the Ospreys’ impact on the Stockton community.
As a community representative and fundraiser, the Director will be expected to develop strong relationships with – and help identify, cultivate, solicit and close – individual donors, alumni, corporations and friends of the university to help expand the resources for athletics. The Director will provide information, gather historical knowledge and give perspective on future opportunities in executing and refining the department’s strategic plan and budgetary goals.
