| The University of Connecticut is accepting applications and nominations for the full-time position of Athletic Fields Assistant (UCP IV). This individual will report directly to the Assistant Manager of Athletic Fields and will assist in the preparation and maintenance of top quality athletic fields and outdoor athletic facilities to ensure student-athlete and spectator safety. Responsibilities include: inspection and necessary maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure proper operation; assistance with aeration, fertilizer application and chemicals; responsible for the preparation of facilities prior to practices and games; necessary maintenance of all equipment; assistance with the maintenance and upkeep of indoor athletic facilities as required; appropriate assistance at athletic events as required; as well as other duties assigned by the Assistant Manager of Athletic Fields. |
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in turf management or related field; Three to Five years’ relevant experience; Eligible to receive or possess a valid Connecticut Pesticide Applicators license; Demonstrated knowledge and experience with aeration, chemical spraying, fertilization and directional mowing; and knowledge of how to operate equipment related to these tasks; Knowledge of the layout, repair, and irrigation of athletics fields; Ability to operate University owned vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience working with golf, professional or collegiate athletic fields; Professional license and/or specialized training or certification for chemical fertilization; Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
NOTE: Incumbents in this position will be required to work holidays, nights, and weekends. This position is designated as “emergency personnel/essential staff” and may be required to report in inclement weather or emergency conditions to continue performance of job responsibilities.
