The Volleyball Coach reports to the Chairperson of the Department of Athletics and the Dean of Student Services/Athletic Director for the appropriate functions. This is a security-sensitive position and is subject to a criminal history record. (Texas Government Code 411.094 & Texas Education Code 51.215)
Specific duties include:
To teach in the Department of Athletics and recreation program as requested.
To develop, organize, direct, and coach intercollegiate women's volleyball.
To organize and implement a recruiting plan which will maintain a competitive volleyball team.
To encourage/gain community and area support for the volleyball program.
To promote the development of responsible character and behavior among students who are accepted into the program.
To recommend and administer the volleyball program budget.
To recommend a schedule of competition to the Dean of Student Services/Athletic Director.
To supervise the care of the college volleyball courts and to coordinate gymnasium maintenance with the Director of Physical Plant.
To be knowledgeable of transfer and eligibility rules concerning NJCAA, NCAA, and NAIA in order to advise concerning these matters.
To assist in the planning and implementation of VC Intramural program.
To function as a team member in the Department of Athletics and in the Division of Student Services professional staff in the development and implementation of processes necessary to accomplish the goals and philosophy of the division and the College.
To assume special responsibilities on assignment by the Dean of Student Services/Athletic Director and/or he President.
A minimum of three (3) years coaching experience in women's volleyball and playing experience at the collegiate level preferred. The ability to attain a Class C driver's license with passenger endorsement.
Additional Salary Information: This is an 11 month contract off July.
