| The University of New Mexico Foundation at the University of New Mexico, an NCAA Division I institution and Mountain West Conference member, is now accepting applications for the position of Lobo Club Special Events Manager. |
The primary function of this position is to coordinate fund raising events for the Athletics Lobo Club, such as the Lobo Club Golf Tournament, Howl of a Good Time Auction, and various other events. The selected candidate will have the following responsibilities, as well as other duties as assigned.
Event Planning and Production: • Assist with negotiations for space contracts and book event space, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audio visual equipment, order event signs, and ensure appropriate decor (florals, linens, color schemes, etc.) to meet the quality expectations of the Lobo Club. • Aggressively gather information on each project to achieve quality event productions. • Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities. • Create and revise room layouts for each event. • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process. • Serve as liaison with vendors on event-related matters. • Assist with managing on-site production and clean up for events as necessary. • Prepare name tags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc. • Close out all events as required. • Coordinate and execute halftime receptions at all home Men's Basketball games. • Generate revenue from all of our events • Work closely with volunteers on events committees
Event Administration: • Assist with preparing budgets and provide periodic progress reports to staff directors for each event project. • Keep track of event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting. • Coordinate appointments and visits to see our space, and scheduling of events on the calendar. • Prepare and modify event contracts as requested
Hotel Gift-in-Kind: • Solicit and cultivate new hotel partners • Be a liaison between current properties and the athletic department • Work with coaches and administration on booking rooms for games and other events
Experience in event planning a must to be successful in this role, but this individual must also possess interpersonal communication skills. They will work very closely with coaches, administration, and various units within the athletic department and University. This position must have a positive, energetic, and problem solving attitude at all times.
