Job Summary: Provides oversight, direction and management of the recreation and business services functions to include horticulture, marina, aquatics, community centers, recreation, concessions, golf clubhouse management, public services and organized sports. Responsible for development and implementation of core services analysis, business plans, needs assessments, capital improvement plans, performance metrics. Aligns overall direction of amenities, services and programs with department goals.
Provide oversight and direction of the business plan for recreation services; ensure programs are meeting the needs of the public through community outreach; ensure effective customer service and revenue generation; assist with contract monitoring and administration.
Provide oversight and direction for the implementation of the business plan to the golf clubhouse/concessions operation; maximize revenues through innovation; ensure quality and effective customer service.
Provide oversight and direction of the business plan to public services, special events, and organized sports; advise on the implementation of new programming and league development for various sports; ensure quality and effective customer service and revenue generation.
Provide oversight and direction of the business plans of the Horticulture section; ensure the implementation of educational programs; ensure quality and effective customer service and revenue generation.
Provide oversight and direction for aquatics programming and facilities to ensure safety and quality and maintain State-certified Lifeguard training program.
Provide oversight and direction for the implementation of the business plan for the regional marina facility; ensure Clean Marina standards are implemented; ensure effective customer service and revenue generation.
Prepare, implement, and monitor Division annual budget; identify funding needs for operations; develop and approve budget allocations for sections within Division.
Recommend hiring of Recreation Division staff and provide guidance and direction for job assignments; provide performance appraisals and workforce development opportunities; establish priorities to ensure the success of the Division and the Department's strategies.
Responsible for administration of department-wide initiatives including Strategic Planning, accreditation, needs assessment; for division business plans, performance measures, goals and objectives; core service analysis; establish procedures that meet policy objectives.
Participate on special project teams; community outreach efforts; marketing and communication efforts; and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Park and Recreation, Public Administration or related field.
Graduate Degree preferred (MBA or related field).
Three (3) years of experience in recreation programming, business development and park operations.
Five (5) years or more of senior leadership and program management experience
Valid driver’s license
Business and/or recreation planning experience preferred
Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) or Certified Park and Recreation Executive (CPRE) preferred
