University of the Cumberlands seeks qualified candidates for the Volleyball Graduate Assistantship. University of the Cumberlands athletics is an intercollegiate athletic program and a Division I member of the NAIA. Graduate Assistantships must be admitted into a UC Graduate Program and position includes a tuition waiver and stipend. Start date is July 1, 2017.
Volleyball Graduate Assistant Duties: Reporting to the Head Coach, the graduate assistant will assist the head coach in all facets of the program, as well as heading up the JV program. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: Demonstrate and teach advanced volleyball skills; assist with coaching during athletic contests and practices; run small group workouts; monitor and assist with strength training program; assist with team schedule and travel, fund-raising, scouting opponents, recruiting and evaluating new players; assist with maintaining statistics and coordinating with officials; implementation of the academic program including enforcement of study tables and monitoring progress of student athletes to ensure academic eligibility; work with student athletes and monitor adherence to rules and regulations concerning conduct, team expectations, punctuality and appearance. Regular evening and weekend work required
Must be enrolled in a graduate program at UC at the time of appointment; Bachelor’s degree required, minimum of two years volleyball coaching or playing experience. Additional requirements include proficiency with Microsoft Office, excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, demonstrated orientation toward quality service and teamwork, and demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
