Cleveland State University Asst Ath Director, Athletic Communications Position Description: Cultivates relationships with local, regional and national media personnel and key community constituents to build and maintain a position public perception of Cleveland State University Athletics. Serves as institutional representative to local, regional and national media outlets for all athletics activities. Develops and oversees a comprehensive program of communications and promotion for the Athletics Department. Plans, organizes and coordinates media relations department operations and activities. Supervises assigned personnel. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five years experience in sports information or journalism. Proven ability to write under deadlines. Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Current knowledge and experience working with social and digital media. Experience in web site development and maintenance. Proficient in use of computer software applications. Knowledgeable in podcasting, videostreaming, and associated audio and video hardware. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Knowledgeable of NCAA and Horizon League rules and procedures. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends. Ability to travel off campus. Preferred Qualifications: 6+ years sports information experience. Media relations experience. Experience working in or with local and regional media. Experience developing strategy for social and digital media outlets. Previous supervisory experience.
