The Northeast-10 Conference (NE10), a 15-member NCAA Division II Conference with operations based in Mansfield, Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic, energetic, self-motivated leader to serve as Assistant Commissioner for Strategic Communications.
This position will provide vision and strategic leadership for NE10 Conference communications efforts that are aligned with the Conference’s Mission, Vision, Brand and Strategic Plan as well with the NCAA DII Strategic Platform. The Assistant Commissioner will work under the direct supervision of the Commissioner.
The Assistant Commissioner will:
Direct all strategic communications efforts for the Conference’s 24 championship sports (regular season and postseason), including weekly and postseason honors.
Provide strategic leadership for NE10 Now, the Conference’s digital streaming platform launching November 2018. Ensure membership adherence to established policies and implementation timeline.
Develop NE10 Now digital network as home for all NE10 championships.
Develop new strategies for promotion of the conference in support of the NE10’s Strategic Plan, including but not limited to, features and highlight videos, student-athlete features, and web-based initiatives.
Advance and expand the NE10 brand through established and emerging avenues.
Manage the design and content of the NE10 website. Oversee maintenance of appropriate web-only materials such as programs and record books.
Maintain close association with, and serve as liaison to, the institutional Athletic Communications Directors and coordinate communications strategies and campaigns through these individuals; Organize professional development opportunities for institutional staff members at annual meetings.
Cultivate relationships with campus, local and regional communications professionals in all forms (campus communications offices, student media, print, digital, etc.) in an effort to collaboratively tell the NE10 story and enhance partnerships.
Support the development of a Conference Marketing and Promotions program with an eye toward revenue generation.
Oversee all production aspects of the conference’s year-end awards banquet, including video and photography and script development.
Manage the NE10 Conference Hall of Fame selection process
Serve in a supporting role in the administration of Conference championships.
Assist the Commissioner on special projects
Other duties as assigned by the Commissioner
At least 5 years’ experience working within an athletic department or conference office at the collegiate level.
Outstanding communication, organizational, interpersonal and written skills.
An earnest desire to work in NCAA Division II along with a demonstrated, comprehensive understanding of DII environment.
Experience managing social media platforms, web and graphic design.
Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, website content management tools, video editing software.
Ability to work on deadline and manage multiple tasks.
The position will require travel as well as night and weekend work.
Experience with Production Truck Pro, Stretch Internet streaming platform and Stat Crew software are preferred.
