Brandeis University seeks to hire an Assistant Tennis Coach/Equipment Coordinator to join the Athletics Department. The Assistant Tennis Coach/Equipment Coordinator will assist the head coach in all facets of running a successful men's and women's tennis program competing as an NCAA DIII program and as a member of the University Athletic Association. This includes on court coaching, scouting opponents, recruiting student-athletes, video breakdown, design and implementation of game plans and advising and mentoring our student-athletes. This person will also assist the Equipment Room Coordinator with daily operations of the equipment room.
Brandeis fields 19 Division III varsity athletic programs. Over the years, Brandeis has won NCAA team championships in men's soccer (1976) and men's cross country (1983), as well as 24 individual titles. Over the past decade, Brandeis teams have earned 24 NCAA Division III Tournament berths and won 10 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) New England crowns. Nine different Judges teams have earned national rankings in that span, with men's and women's basketball and men's and women's soccer all reaching the top 10 in the nation.
**This is currently an 11 month assignment with the possibility of extending to a 12 month assignment**
Assist with the student-athlete recruitment effort for the men's and women's tennis program including traveling to high school and club games and tournaments, evaluating prospective players, and generating applications to the University.
Responsible for annually recruiting an incoming class of tennis student-athletes that contribute to the continuing success of the team and to the University community at large.
Assist with scouting of opponents and prepares scouting reports used to prepare student- athletes for competition.
Responsible for film breakdown and implementing game plan strategies.
Assist with the planning all in-season practice sessions and developing an off-season training schedule and program.
Assist with all game coaching at home and on the road including managing team travel details while traveling.
Assist with equipment ordering for teams, inventory management and various facility projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree preferred. - 1 year of related work experience is required. - Driver’s License required. - Strong interpersonal and phone skills and the ability to communicate and motivate young people under high stress situations. - Analytical skills to breakdown and devise effective game plans. - Must have writing skills and talent evaluation skills for recruiting. - Must have the ability to effectively teach tennis from a technical standpoint. Must have the ability to maintain positive alumnae relations. - Must be able to guide and mentor student-athletes in a positive manner through any crisis situation that may arise.
