LONG BEACH STATE ATHLETICS seeks applicants for the position of Director of Sport Performance. Major responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating with coaching staff of 19 men’s and women’s athletic teams to design and implement safe and effective pre-season, in-season and off-season sport-specific strength training and conditioning programs; management and supervision of the weight training facility, including resources operations, scheduling, inventory, purchasing of new equipment, and maintenance; development and implementation of policies and procedures for risk management, appropriate supervision, record keeping, evaluation, and maintenance; supervision of sport performance staff; and budget planning and monitoring of annual operations budget for the sport performance program.
EFFECTIVE DATE: On or about October 1, 2018.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position (Coaching Assistant - 12 Month).

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification or Collegiate Strengh and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) certification; current CPR and First Aid certifications; demonstrated two years of practical experience as a Sport Performance specialist in a broad-based collegiate setting; and demonstrated commitment to successfully work with a diverse student population.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field; knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations; practical knowledge of periodization, Olympic-style lifts, speed development, agility, flexibility, plyometrics, and conditioning; experience as a sport performance coach at the college level; demonstrated ability to coach quality student-athletes; ability to motivate student-athletes to perform at their optimal level; computer skills; public relations skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.
