Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
OUAZ, in Surprise, AZ, has an opening for a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer reporting to the Director of Sports Medicine, this is a 12-month renewable assignment. The Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer assists with the day-to-day management of the athletics' sports medicine operation, which requires some night and weekend work. Candidates for the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer should possess a commitment to Christian higher education, utilize servant leadership style of leadership, and be willing to assume the duties listed in the following general position description. This position includes a stipend, tuition waiver, and meal plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Prevention and care of athletic injury and illnesses •Provide coverage at home athletic events, practices, and designated away events •Evaluation of athletic injuries •Communication of information between the sports medicine team, coaches, student athletes and parents •Education and counseling for student athletes regarding their injury/illness •Maintain appropriate documentation and record keeping. •Maintain the system of daily records of assessments, treatments, and rehabilitation on all athletes with guaranteed confidentiality according to FERPA, HIPPA, and others that apply. •Oversee the monitoring and care of the athletics training room, equipment, and inventory housed there. •Coordinate NAIA Drug Education policies and procedures with staff and student-athletes •Other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.
Each candidate must meet the following qualifications and any others listed specifically for each position on the OUAZ Website. •Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization is required •Board of Certification (BOC) certified •Eligible for state of Arizona licensure •Strong communication and interpersonal skills •Current certification in first aid, CPR, and AED

An earned Bachelor's Degree in a related field and the ability to obtain admission into an Ottawa University graduate program is required (minimum undergraduate degree GPA of 3.0 is required, as well as other acceptance criteria).
