JOB DESCRIPTION: The University of Toledo is seeking a graduate assistant to help with Track and Field throwing events. Candidate must have knowledge and experience in throws events. Under the direction of the Head Track & Field coach, responsibilities will include but not be limited to: coaching throwing athletes events, recruiting, monitoring academic progress and assisting coaching staff with administrative tasks and other duties as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: *The Graduate Assistant recruits, retains, supervises, and coaches student-athletes, under the guidelines of the University of Toledo, the Mid-American Conference, and the NCAA. *Follows all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations to ensure compliance. *Makes decisions to successfully achieve department goals and objectives, and be accountable for the development of team policies and goals. *Actively participates in practices and competitions, including, but not limited to, meet preparation, practice planning, scheduling, weight training and fitness programs. *Evaluates prospective student-athletes, analyzes and determines their abilities and whether they may succeed athletically and academically at The University of Toledo. *Monitors student-athlete academic performance. *Conducts, advises, and counsels student-athletes regarding performance and conduct. *Identifies and addresses student-athlete welfare issues. *Aids in home meet management. *Carries out other related administrative duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

*Bachelor’s degree required. Must be admissible to the Graduate School at The University of Toledo.
*Minimum of 2 years of coaching and/or playing experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
*Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of Track & Field, specifically in the throwing events.
*Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment, academic eligibility requirements, and retention of student-athletes.
*Knowledge of athletics recruitment methods and techniques.
*Ability to create a database for all prospects, recruiting software database experience preferred.
*Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
*Strong organizational skills.
*Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
*Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
*Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
*Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
*Available weekends and evenings.
*Ability to pass NCAA recruiting test within 90 days.
