Develops, implements and evaluates the strategic communications plan across all Athletic Department platforms. Cultivates and maintains relationships in media locally and nationally. Serves as Department spokesperson and as media point-of-contact. Ensures maintenance of archived information, records and statistics. Provides mentorship to Communicaions staff. Manages Athletics Communication budget. JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - Communications Plan Development and Implementation: Develops, implements and evaluates the strategic communications plan across the department's audiences in collaboration with the Athletic Department. Decides who, where and when to disseminate. Puts communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities and works closely with the creative solutions teams to achieve goals. Coordinates the content for all communications to test the effectiveness of the activities for all Division I athletic teams.
20% - Essential - Public Relations: Cultivates and maintains relationships in media locally and nationally. Serves as the department's spokesperson and handles media inquiries. Works directly with director of athletics and other needed staff or coaches to coordinate messaging and media strategy. Proactively shares the stories of Clemson, pitches stories, and spreads the Clemson brand. Works closely with primary football contact and provides significant support in this area. Also works in conjunction with campus communications to anticipate common goals/events and create consistent messaging.
20% - Essential - External Operations Collaboration: Collaborates with marketing, creative solutions, ticketing and IPTAY teams on plan development and execution to assist with communications and marketing initiatives to elevate fundraising and season ticket sales, while reaching prospective students, prospective student-athletes, current students and student-athletes, current fans and potential fans. Integral in partnership with the ACC, ESPN, and other production-related needs towards the build and launch of the ACC Network.
20% - Essential - Personnel Management: Mentors and leads full-time, part-time and graduate assistant staff responsible for the Athletic Department's sport-specific communications including the staff that handles day to day media contact for football, mens basketball, womens basketball, baseball,mens soccer, womens soccer, mens tennis, womens tennis, volleyball, softball, rowing, mens and womens cross country and track and field and student-athlete wellness and academics.
5% - Essential - Freedom of Information Act: Manages all responses to FOIA requests. Coordinates efforts with Athletic staff and the Office of the General Counsel to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations pertaining to the dissemination of information. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
