The Compliance Coordinator serves as a member of the compliance team that is committed to excellence and advancing the Department of Athletics through its strategic plan. This position reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance and works with the compliance staff on areas specific to Bylaws 13-17 with an emphasis on Bylaw 13. Duties include, but are not limited to: the review and approval of all official visits, monitoring recruiting documentation, playing and practice seasons, student-athlete housing, vehicles, and employment, assisting with the completion of initial and continuing eligibility assessments, assisting sport specific staff to ensure completion of NCAA, Big 10 and institutional forms, and assisting in the preparation of educational materials for coaches, staff and other constituents. Greets and assists all student-athletes, coaches, staff, and visitors to the compliance office. This position works in a high pressure environment and must be able to act with integrity and discretion as they will be exposed to sensitive and confidential information. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.
This is an entry level; career based internship, and is intended for the professional development of an applicant with 6 to 24 months of practical experience. This position is focused on furthering the knowledge and skills in the fields of Compliance, while embodying the Ohio State University Department of Athletics mission and values.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required; Juris Doctor or Master's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
Experience in an Athletic compliance setting at an institutional, conference or national association level is desired. Some office management experience preferred. Position requires strong computer skills, strong analytical skills, well-developed written and oral communication skills, and the ability to balance multiple projects. Must have successful experience working in a collaborative and team oriented environment and act with integrity and personal accountability.
This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
