The LIU Post Department of Athletics is seeking applications for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. Responsibilities will include serving as the primary Athletic Communications contact for designated sports and maintaining relationships with local, regional, and national media to maximize coverage and exposure for the athletics programs through traditional and new media sources.
Other responsibilities include, but not limited to writing press releases, game recaps, record keeping, website content, publications, assisting with game day operations and management, video production, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also possess strong proficiency in graphic design and will work with the Associate Athletic Director with the objective of enhancing the athletic department’s presence on digital and social platforms. The successful candidate should be highly organized, detail-oriented, a good communicator and possess the ability to handle numerous assignments in a timely manner with the flexibility to adjust to unscheduled developments requiring immediate attention. LIU Post is located in Brookville, N.Y. along the Gold Coast of Long Island in the Great Gatsby area. Salary is commensurate with experience. Affordable on-campus housing may be available. Candidates should possess the following:
A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sports Management, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in media relations
Ability to work in a fast paced, detailed and deadline-oriented environment
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
Expertise in Photoshop, InDesign and/or other Adobe Creative Suite software with proven skill in graphic design
StatCrew software experience preferred
