Assist with recruiting, teaching and coaching of individual players; assist head coach with ensuring student-athletes develop fully not just in volleyball but as good citizens and representatives of the University; coordinate all types of fund-raising to ensure the program’s success; and keep head coach abreast of any player issues to include academic and medical. Perform other related duties as assigned by the head coach.
Bachelor Degree required. Bachelor Degree or higher in Physical Education, Sports Management, Kinesiology, Recreation, or related field preferred or any combination of education and experience which clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Three years experience in collegiate or professional coaching or three years or more playing volleyball collegiately or professionally or a combination at a highly regarded institution, team, or program required. Knowledge of and ability to enforce NCAA, MEAC rules and regulations required. Knowledge of nutrition, strength and conditioning programs, weight training and other physical requirements geared to collegiate volleyball players required. Must have experience or the ability to provide academic oversight. Must be able to demonstrate volleyball skills and techniques and possibly practice game situations. Experience with marketing fundraising and volleyball camps preferred. Must be able to enforce the policies and procedures set forth by UMES. Ability to work and communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public required.
