Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking applicants for Assistant Men's Tennis Coach to assist in the coaching and training of student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level in the sport of Men's Tennis to prepare them for competition in local, regional and national arenas.
Position primary purpose and general responsibilities include:
Successfully recruit academically qualified and athletically talented student-athletes;
Coach and train student-athletes at the NCAA Division I level to prepare them for competition in local, regional and national arenas;
Maintain accurate files of current and prospective student-athletes and required NCAA, A10, and University paperwork;
Evaluate prospective student-athletes;
Assistant in scheduling matches for the tennis team;
Secure travel arrangements involved with recruitment, matches, and tournaments; and
Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes.
Minimum hiring standards include:
A bachelor’s degree;
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU;
Knowledge and experience with NCAA rules and regulations; and
1-2 years’ experience coaching.
Preferred hiring standards include:
Previous playing experience in the sport of tennis;
1-2 years’ experience coaching at the collegiate level, preferably NCAA Division I;
International recruiting experience; and
An advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree..
