The Manager for Sports Information and Game Operations enhances the visibility and recognition of HCC's athletics program by promoting athletic achievements and successes of College teams and individual student athletes through media coverage, special events, and other outlets. The manager partners with the College's Communications department to create and execute marketing, public relations, and promotions for the athletics program and maintains the athletics department's Web pages.
Duties include, but are not limited to, building, maintaining, and enhancing the Athletics pages of the College's Web site, including daily sports updates and in accordance with NJCAA regulations, and maximizing new media opportunities on the Web and social media; serving as the public relations contact to promote the Athletics Department, building relationships with local/regional media; writing press releases and other HCC sports communications and working with the Communications Department to develop publications; planning, coordinating, and executing special events; supervising the public address, music, and scoreboard operations at appropriate varsity contests; and providing support and coordination of game day coverage.
The manager coordinates tracking of in-game statistics and timely compilation for all varsity teams, and reports the appropriate statistics to the media, conference, Region and NJCAA.
Work schedule will include day, evening, weekend, and occasional holidays, based on the needs of the College and the Athletics Department.
A bachelor's degree and one to two years of experience in intercollegiate athletics, sports information, and game operations are required. Experience using PrestoSports software and producing live game statistics is required. Internships or co-op experience may be considered.
Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, knowledge of NJCAA and related rules and regulations; knowledge of the methods, techniques, principles, and procedures associated with student development practices, intercollegiate athletics, and recreation programs; the ability to compile statistics and interpret statistics and develop statistical reports; excellent writing and communication skills; proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment and familiarity with an ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner; and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability to coordinate several ongoing projects, work independently and as part of a team, and resolve conflicts and solve problems, and direct schedule and direct the work of others, including volunteers.
The ability to work a flexible schedule is also required.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
