Assistant Athletic Director of Facilities and Operations
Responsible for the day-to-day operation of all athletic facilities on the Queens Campus to include: Carnesecca Arena, Taffner Field House, Belson Soccer Stadium, Kaiser Baseball Stadium, DaSilva Track and Lacrosse Field, Red Storm Softball Field and the Tennis Courts. Work closely with key University personnel from Facilities Services, Design and Construction, Total Maintenance Solutions, Public Safety, Fire Safety, Enviromnental Health and Safety, Food Services and outside contractors to ensure that the athletic facilities and all associated equipment maintain the OSHA specifications. Conduct regular, visual inspections of the facilities and equipment to determine appropriate repairs and service. Ensure the athletic facilities meet the standards of NCAA Division I and BIG EAST membership. Operate facilities and conduct athletic events in accordance with all NCAA and BIG EAST rules/procedures and in accordance with New York City and New York State laws. Participate in emergency planning, identify and mitigate risks for the Department of Athletics. Schedule practices and contests for all intercollegiate teams, campus recreation, support groups as well as internal and external events taking place in the facilities. Oversee and direct two full-time assistants, four graduate assistants, twelve student workers and 100+ event staff members. Immediately establish and continuously maintain a working knowledge of the NCAA and BIG EAST Conference rules and regulations and St. John's University Policies and Procedures. Continuously maintain operating guidelines, policies and procedures in your area of responsibility within the department to ensure 100% compliance with the NCAA/BIG EAST rules and regulations. Bachelor’s Degree 3-5 years experience in collegiate event or game management.
Master’s degree 3-5 years experience in intercollegiate athletics event or facilities management Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience and ability to train and schedule staff, experience in a collegiate institution, preferably Division I
