Texas Woman’s University, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Lone Star Conference, is accepting applications for a full-time Head Softball Coach, a 12-month benefits-eligible appointment. The successful candidate will have previous successful collegiate coaching experience and will be responsible for developing and administering a highly competitive softball program; abiding by University, Lone Star Conference and NCAA rules and regulations; and along with all other Athletics personnel, working towards achieving the objectives of Intercollegiate Athletics.
The Head Softball Coach manages all aspects of the team and reports to the Director of Athletics. Primary duties include coaching a softball team with a tradition of academic and athletics excellence; recruiting and retaining student-athletes who will be academically successful; directing and supervising a full-time assistant coach and a graduate assistant; developing and managing a fiscally sound budget; monitoring and encouraging student-athletes’ academic progress and success to ensure continuing eligibility and to graduate; assisting in marketing and promoting the softball program; supporting and participating in the department’s commitment to community service; assisting with executing a positive game day environment; and assisting with fund raising and alumni relations.
Minimum four years of experience coaching competitive women’s softball at a four-year institution or a junior college. NCAA coaching experience strongly preferred. Head coaching experience strongly preferred. Experience in Texas preferred. Work is performed under general supervision and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire, and will be required prior to participation in any countable athletically related activities as defined by the NCAA.
